Energy Management System ISO 50001

Category: Photography & Branding

Excellent presentation of ISO 50001 Energy Management published on June 15, 2011.

There were also discussed various aspects, especially how the energy efficiency is the most inexpensive energy saving way, and yet the majority do not use it. The figure we wanted to use to symbolize the new is marginal cost figure in reducing CO2 through energy efficiency in final consumption, and there can be observed that a negative cost can be reached, ie we could reduce costs and CO2 at the same time.

A survey made in the UK among executives, several energy aspects were considered as energy management motivators in the companies, in order of relevance and votes they were:

  • Economic savings...........................................................................80%
  • Environmental protection, climate change..........................................35%
  • Corporative reputation improvement among customers and investors...28%
  • .......

It is not necessary to remind these three concepts are about competitiveness, Social Corporation Responsibility, sustainability, environmental management, and others.

This norm goes further the energy management done under the environmental management ISO 14001, since some initial measurements are needed to generate one or more energy consumption baselines, being the first time to talk specifically about "indicator". New definitions of energy concepts are made, that neither in the public aids programmes are made or are disparate. It confirms the focus on continuous improvement of energetic performance and the system itself.

The indicators paragraph maintains their definition at the begining, just at the P of the PDCA circle, as baselines from which to start. Conceptually, it would be like the previous historichal measurements for a CE certificate by a third party, moved to energy. For that, apropiate energy indicators are selected whose results would be assessed against the baseline and that can be represented.

ISO 50001 certification is no problem if one holds the EN 16000 certificate.
